WiFi.Italia.it federates and unites existing WiFi networks of municipalities and public administrations by providing a single automatic access mode, at the moment there are over 20 operating networks and other 10 are active both in large and small municipalities.
Wifi.Italia.it has over 1500 Active Access Points, access is easy thanks to the use of an APP that allows each user to access all the Italian free WiFi networks participating in the project and to enjoy both connectivity and content and the services that will gradually be made available.
Through the integration with SPID (Public Digital Identity System), access and use of the service has become much easier.
The Minister of Economic Development and Labor and Social Policies Luigi Di Maio launched stage two of the Wifi.Italia.it project by signing a ministerial decree in October 2018 to promote the distribution of the network, giving priority to the geographical areas of the territories of Regions affected by the 2016 earthquake.
In addition, a further development of the platform and the APP is planned and above all work is continuing on the process of integrating existing networks. This plan is earmarked for 8 million euros and another 10,000 hotspots are planned in almost 4,000 Italian cities.
It is the Municipality of Bussero, Lombardia, the last administration has asked to join the project.

As part of the ‘’ Piazza Wi-Fi Italia ’’ Infratel ItalIa S.p.A. project in agreement with the MISE and in collaboration with the technical partner TIM and the Ministry for Ecological Transition, it will supply and install of WiFi Access Points in public hospitals that can request them through an email communication to firstname.lastname@example.org
