Pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (hereinafter referred to as "GDPR"), this page describes how the personal data of users consulting the institutional website of Infratel Italia S.p.a. (hereinafter referred to as "Infratel Italia"), accessible by electronic means at the following web address, are processed: https://www.wifi.italia.it/en/
This privacy policy is made pursuant to Article 13 of the GDPR.
This information does not concern other sites, pages or online services that can be reached through hypertext links that may be published on the site, but which refer to resources outside the Infratel Italia domain. Furthermore, the present information does not include information relating to personal data provided for the purposes of registration to the Infratel Italia e-procurement portal or when using the platform for participation in tenders called pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 50/2016 (Public Contracts Code), as this is the subject of specific privacy information prepared for this purpose and made available to those entitled to it.
In general, any information or personal data collected through the institutional site will be processed in accordance with the internationally recognised principles of lawfulness, correctness, transparency, purpose limitation and storage, data minimisation, accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.

Purpose and legal basis of processing
Infratel Italia is an in-house company of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy and part of the Invitalia Group.
The company has been operational since 2005 and is the implementing body of the government's Broadband and Ultra Broadband Plans.
Infratel Italia's objective is to intervene in areas of market failure, through the construction and integration of broadband and ultrabroadband infrastructure actions capable of extending opportunities for fast Internet access for citizens, businesses, and public bodies.
Access to broadband and ultra-broadband services is, in fact, essential for the development and competitiveness of a modern economic system, based on knowledge and the fast and efficient exchange of data and information, and for eliminating the digital divide in underutilised areas of the country.
Through Infratel Italia, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy implements the measures defined in the Strategia Nazionale per la Banda Ultralarga with the aim of helping to reduce the existing infrastructure and market gap by creating favourable conditions for the integrated development of telecommunications infrastructures.
In 2019, Infratel Italia was entrusted with the Piazza Wifi Italia Project for the implementation of free hotspots in all Italian municipalities, continuing the development of the federation of existing public WIFI networks, accessible through the Wifi Italia APP.
The institutional website - due to the type of company in question - pursues communication, transparency, and promotion purposes regarding the institutional aims pursued by Infratel Italia.
The personal data processed following consultation of the site by the user are related to: fulfilments and purposes relating to the activity carried out by Infratel Italia - as described above - in the execution of its institutional tasks; the need to respond to requests for information from third parties; the possibility of asserting or defending rights in court, in the event of abuse in the use of the site; the fulfilment of any legal obligations.
Personal data are processed by Infratel Italia in the performance of its public interest tasks (art. 6, par. 1, letter e), GDPR) described above. The data will also be processed in accordance with the following legal bases: art. 6, par. 1, b, GDPR (data processing to execute measures aimed at responding to requests from parties interested in the services managed by the Company), art. 6, par. 1, f, GDPR - pursuit of a legitimate interest (processing relating to the above purpose "possibility of asserting or defending rights in court, in case of abuse in the use of the site"), 6, par. 1, c, GDPR, for the fulfilment of legal obligations falling within the legal sphere of Infratel Italia.
Types of data processed
Following consultation of the site, the following types of data may be acquired:
Navigation data
During their normal operation, the computer systems and software procedures used to operate the institutional site acquire certain personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols.
This category of data includes the IP addresses or domain names of the computers and terminals used by users, the URI/URL (Uniform Resource Identifier/Locator) notation addresses of the resources requested, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the response given by the server (successful, error, etc.), and other parameters relating to the user's operating system and computer environment.
These data, necessary for the use of web services, are also processed in order to:
- obtaining statistical information on the use of the site (most visited pages, number of visitors per time slot or per day, etc.);
- checking the proper functioning of the site.
Such technical/computer data could be used to ascertain responsibility in the event of hypothetical computer crimes against the site or third parties.
Browsing data will be kept for a period of time no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which they were collected, or subsequently processed, as well as to ensure the fulfilment of the relevant legal obligations (except for any need to ascertain unlawful acts by judicial authorities or in connection with the fulfilment of current obligations relating to public safety or requests by the supervisory authorities).
Data provided voluntarily by the user
The optional, explicit, and voluntary sending of messages to Infratel Italia's contact addresses, private messages sent by users to institutional profiles/pages on social media (where this possibility is foreseen), as well as the filling in and forwarding of forms on Infratel Italia's website, entail the acquisition of the sender's contact data, necessary to give feedback to the user, as well as all the personal data included in the communications.
Through the sending of any electronic notes by the user, Infratel Italia will be provided with certain personal data, such as the user's electronic address and whatever will appear in the body of the missive. This data will be used for the sole purpose of establishing reciprocal communication and will not be communicated or disseminated or transferred abroad.
This category of data also includes the data provided by the user by filling in the "fields" (name, surname, municipality, contact details, message area) of the "Contacts" section on the site www.wifi.italia.it/en/.

Data recipients
The personal data collected are processed by the staff of Infratel Italia, acting on the basis of specific instructions given as to the purposes and methods of data processing.
The data collected as a result of the consultation of the institutional site above mentioned may be addressed to the following party designated by Infratel Italia, pursuant to article 28 of the GDPR, as data processor:
- Agency for inward investment and economic development p.a. (Invitalia), as an IT service provider.
Personal data may be communicated or brought to the attention of:
- additional, above-mentioned data processors;
- supervisory and control authorities when carrying out inspections as provided for by the provisions in force;
- public security authorities, judicial authorities, and judicial police bodies.
Processing methods
Personal data are processed mainly using electronic and computerised procedures and media, for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which they were collected and in such a way as to guarantee their confidentiality and security. Specific security measures are observed to prevent the loss of data, unlawful or incorrect use, and unauthorised access.
Personal data may be processed by specially appointed data processors and by authorised/designated persons under the authority of the Data Controller and/or Data Processor.
Personal data will not be disseminated but may be communicated and processed within the national territory and the European Union in compliance with the rights and guarantees provided for by current legislation. Please also note that, with reference to the data being processed, no transfers are made to countries outside the European Economic Area.
Nature of data provision
The provision of data for the purposes indicated in this information notice is not compulsory, it is related to the user's access to the institutional site and to any communication forwarded by the same using the contact channels made available by Infratel Italia; failure to provide such data, or providing partial or inaccurate information, will make it impossible to use the data of the interested party for the purposes indicated or to release the information requested by the user.
Period of data retention
Personal data will be kept for a period of time no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which they were collected or subsequently processed, as well as to ensure the fulfilment of the relevant legal obligations.
Rights of data subjects
Data subjects have the right to obtain from Infratel Italia, in the cases provided for, access to their personal data and the rectification, deletion thereof or the restriction of processing concerning them, or to object to processing (art. 15 et seq. of the Regulation). The request will be acknowledged as quickly as possible and, in any case, within the terms of the GDPR.
Right to complain
Interested parties who believe that the data subject considers that the processing of personal data relating to them infringes this Regulation have the right to lodge a complaint with the Privacy Guarantor, as provided for in Article 77 of the Regulation itself, or to take legal action (Article 79 of the Regulation), following the procedures and indications published on the Authority's official website: www.garanteprivacy.it
Updating this privacy policy
This privacy policy may be updated by Infratel Italia to comply with national and European legislation on the processing of personal data and/or to adapt to the adoption of new systems or internal procedures.
