On 10 December the operating agreement for the realization of the WiFi Italia project was signed at the Ministry of Economic Development, by the Director General for Electronic Communication Services, Radio Broadcasting and Post, Antonio Lirosi and the CEO of Infratel Italia, Domenico Tudini.
The Mise has entrusted Infratel Italia S.p.A. the implementation of the installation activities of Wi-Fi access points, the provision of maintenance services and the enhancement of any existing physical and technological infrastructures, primarily in the areas affected by the 2016 seismic events and in the territories of the municipalities with population below 2000 inhabitants.
Today the Minister of Economic Development and Labor Luigi Di Maio and the President of the Lazio Region Nicola Zingaretti signed the Protocol of Understanding, worth 1.3 million euros, "For the diffusion of wi-fi connectivity and intelligent platforms on the Italian territory "in the municipalities of Lazio affected by the earthquake of 24 August 2016. The Municipalities involved in the experimentation of the project are: Accumoli, Amatrice, Antrodoco, Borbona, Borgo Velino, Castel Sant'Angelo, Cantalice, Cittaducale, Cittareale, Leonessa , Micigliano, Poggio Bustone, Posta, Rivodutri, Rieti. The objective of the protocol, which falls within the scope of the WiFi.Italia.it project, is to allow citizens to access the internet for free in public places and to encourage entrepreneurial initiative, enhancing research, tourism and culture .
