Piazza WiFi Italia active in more than 100 Municipalities

Published the assignement announcement for the plants execution and maintenance.

There are over 100 municipalities where the “Piazza WiFi Italia” service is already active, which aims to allow citizens to connect for free and in a simple way, through the dedicated app, to a free wifi network spread throughout the territory national.

The project, launched at the end of February 2019, has 45 million euros of new funding at its disposal, compared to the initial allocation of 8 million allocated for the Municipalities affected by the 2016 earthquake in Abruzzo, Lazio, Marche and Umbria, with priority for the Municipalities with a population of less than 2,000 inhabitants.

In order to proceed towards the complete implementation of the project, the call for tenders for the supply, installation and execution of the management and maintenance services of the “Piazza WiFi Italia” network on the Italian territory was published today in the Official Journal and on the Infratel website.

"Piazza WiFi Italia is a strategic project strongly supported by the Minister Luigi Di Maio to support the digitalization effort of the country through the provision of free and free connections starting from the smaller communities. With the publication of today's call for proposals we are giving further impetus to the project which has already seen 100 connected municipalities in a few months and has attracted great interest throughout the country "- said the Minister of Communications and Digital Innovation of the Minister of Maio Marco Bellezza.
