Municipality of Chiusi della Verna

We publish the speech by Giampaolo Tellini, Mayor of Chiusi della Verna, in Tuscany, where the free hotspots have been activated and in addition to the municipalities that have joined the WiFi Italy project.

“Chiusi della Verna is in the Casentino area, in the center of the beautiful National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna. It is the highest town in Tuscany and is famous for hosting the sanctuary of La Verna, the home of St. Francis where the saint received the stigmata. The sanctuary is located on the southern part of Mount Penna. A thriving tourism industry has developed around these places.

Chiusi della Verna is also famous for the dispute, with the town of Caprese Michelangelo, for being the birthplace of Michelangelo Buonarroti.

The traces of Etruscan and then Roman civilization, being at the center of the pilgrim routes in the Middle Ages made Chiusi a place rich in history as well as natural beauty. Precisely to enhance our history and our environment, we decided to be part of  Wifi Italia, the free national network created by Infratel Italia ”.
