Municipality of Grezzago

We publish the speech by Gilberto Barki, mayor of Grezzago, in Lombardia, where the free hotspots have been activated and in addition to the Municipalities that have joined the WiFi Italia Project.

“The territory of the municipality of Grezzago is located in the north-eastern area of the metropolitan city of Milan. The origins of Grezzago can certainly be traced back to the early Middle Ages, when canalization works were created in the Po Valley that allowed crops to resume after the period of the barbarian invasions. The chapel of San Martino was built in Grezzago which, as evidenced by documents from 1200, belonged to the Pieve di Pontirolo. In 1400 the residence of the "lord", the current Zoja palace, was added to the primitive cottages and the chapel. From the cadastral maps of Maria Theresa of Austria, drawn in 1722, it can be seen that at the beginning of that century Grezzago still represented a typical example of a rural center with a manor house, the farmhouse, the cottages and the chapel that together formed the nucleus inhabited in the center of the cultivated area. In the mid-19th century, the consolidation of the primitive nucleus was recorded, with the addition of buildings to the farmhouse and to the pre-existing cottages on the church square and on the villas of adduction to the countryside, the current via Roma and via Cavour. The history of the town has followed its vocation since the 19th century, then embracing the production of yarns with what is known as the Old Spinning Mill of the historical owners, Messrs. Zoja.

The municipal administration has joined the Piazza WiFi Italia Project to provide an additional service to citizens, who can use a public and free Wifi network "
