Municipality of Bassano in Teverina

We publish the speech by Alessandro Romoli, mayor of Bassano in Teverina, in Lazio, where the free hotspots have been activated and in addition to the Municipalities that have joined the WiFi Italia Project.

"Located in a position overlooking the Tiber Valley from above, Bassano in Teverina extends near the offshoots of the Cimini Mountains. Ours is a small town already frequented in Etruscan times, as evidenced by sections of fortifications in square work and a necropolis of chamber tombs in the locality of Poggio Zucco.

Downstream from the historic center, not far from the Tiber, is Lake Vadimone, described by Pliny the Younger as "a lying wheel, with a completely regular circumference, today almost completely underground, but fed by sulfur springs. proximity of its banks, the Etruscans performed periodic rites and festivals, while the Romans immersed their weapons in its waters to make them invincible. The Romanization of this part of Etruria involved a reorganization of the road system: the territory was crossed by the Via Amerina, one of the few consular roads that remained until the Middle Ages. Another very important road that crossed the territory passing under the ancient center was "the road of the boat" or "of the coasts". From its famous belvedere, you can admire a splendid view over the Tiber Valley and the nearby Umbria: Strolling through the streets of Bassano, you will come across churches from various eras as evidence of an ancient era and history.

Thanks to the participation in the Piazza WiFi Italia project, citizens and tourists have access to a public and free connection, useful for benefiting from the services and for getting to know the opportunities offered by our territory”.
