Municipality of Pimonti

Today we publish the speech by Michele Palummo, mayor of Pimonte, in Campania, where the free hotspots have been activated and in addition to the Municipalities that have joined the WiFi Italia Project.

The Municipality of Pimonte is located in the suggestive setting of the Lattari Mountains, south of Naples and close to the Amalfi Coast. Its name, in fact, derives from the Latin apud montēs, which means "near the mountains". A place rich in history, which offers the opportunity to live unforgettable experiences, such as nature walks, through paths traveled since the Middle Ages, such as that of the Tese that leads to the top of Mount Faito or the suggestive Valle del Lavatoio. From Monte Croce, however, it is possible to appreciate a breathtaking view over the entire Gulf of Naples, from the slopes of Vesuvius to the first curves of the Sorrento Coast, an unforgettable and unmissable postcard. Among the historical and architectural beauties not to be missed there is undoubtedly the Castrum Pini, a castle dating back to the 10th century AD, located at 576 meters above sea level, nestled among the pines that still today testify to the origins of the name. In a nutshell, in Pimonte it is possible to immerse yourself in nature and history, leaving aside the present and stopping, for a moment, time.

A territory and a population that treasure their past, but that look to the future with courage and ambition. Over the years, great attention has been paid to technological innovation, with major investments that aim to keep Pimonte in step with the times and to counteract depopulation. The administration's commitment to the modernization of technological infrastructures and the care of the environment and health is maximum. We are convinced that these three directions (environment, health and technology) are to be pursued in the same way and we fight every day to do so. The preservation of history and the territory are cornerstones of our community. Today, however, looking ahead, digitizing oneself, is the first step towards an economic revival. Investing in technology, putting the city on the network, means adapting to the most developed cities. It means creating adequate tools to make the city more efficient, attracting investments, creating jobs and encouraging young people to stay. Joining Wifi Italia is a source of great pride for our city, a moment of growth that will allow many citizens to connect to the network for free. A special thanks goes to the Ministry of Economic Development, which with Wi-Fi Italia, and many other projects, allows small towns like ours not to be left behind "
