Municipality of Belmonte in Sabina

We are publishing today the speech by Danilo Imperatori, the first citizen of Belmonte in Sabina, in Lazio, who joins the Municipalities where hotspots have been activated.

"I want to thank the Government and in particular the Ministry of Economic Development for promoting the" Piazza WIFI Italia "project, a sign of attention from small municipalities.  As an administration, we immediately embraced the initiative, although we already had several connection points with our own resources, which, however, were not enough.

This very interesting project allows us to have on our territory two additional points of free WIFI network now indispensable in our daily lives. A project that allows our citizens and vacationers to take advantage of a free connection.  Belmonte in Sabina is located in the province of Rieti, as its name suggests, it is particular for its enchanting panoramas. It stands out for its particularity, being close to the city and therefore with all the services available but at the same time immersed in nature.

The origins of the village are medieval, even if the available documents do not allow to fix the certain date. The first ones citing a Belmontis castrum date back to the early 14th century, when a fortified center was already established. You can enjoy an excellent sports center where there is an enchanting swimming pool at about 750 meters above sea level, a multipurpose indoor field, as well as countless nature trails.

From an artistic point of view, in the village the Parish Church of San Salvatore is interesting, which houses in the apse a fresco depicting Saint John the Baptist, ascribable to the early sixteenth century, and a copy of excellent quality of the Archangel Michael of Guido Reni (the copy it was ordered at the expense of the faithful in the 18th century). The parish church also includes a beautiful processional cross created by a sixteenth-century goldsmith from Abruzzo. It is also possible to visit the church of Sant'Elena which was erected above an earlier Roman temple, of which some architectural elements in marble are preserved on site.
