From February 26th, the day of the launch of the "Piazza Wifi Italia" project promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development, there are 2701 Italian municipalities that have adhered so far and these are 1062 conventions already signed with Infratel that start the procedure for installing the Wifi points.
The goal is to allow citizens to connect, for free and in a simple way through the dedicated application, to a free and widespread WiFi network throughout the national territory.
Municipalities that have not yet applied will be able to send their Wi-Fi points request directly online, registering on the web platform accessible from the site wifi.italia.it.
The project has 45 million euros of new funding at its disposal, compared to the initial allocation of 8 million, which will allow the creation of new free wifi areas in all Italian Municipalities, with priority for Municipalities with a population of less than 2,000 inhabitants.
